Gov. Brown Expands Paid Family Leave Act

Governor Brown recently signed a bill expanding the Paid Family Leave Act. As it stands now, the law provides partial pay for workers to bond with a new child or care for a seriously ill parent, child, spouse, or registered domestic partner. Starting July 1, 2014, however, the new law will expand coverage to include workers who need to care for seriously ill siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and parents-in-law.
