Minnis & Smallets LLP is pleased to announce that attorneys Sonya Smallets and Evan Ettinghoff have received the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.
For over seventy years, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA) has promoted civil justice through education and trial advocacy. Each year, SFTLA presents the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award to the attorney or team of attorneys who won the most notable verdict, as measured by its size, the stakes of the controversy, and the rights and interests of society at issue.
Sonya and Evan, along with co-counsel Emily Nugent of Emily Nugent Law, were honored by the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for their work on Newton v. Equilon Enterprises LLC. In that case, they obtained a $475,000 jury verdict on behalf of a woman who was subjected to gender-based harassment while working as a refinery process operator at the Shell refinery in Martinez.
We are so proud of Sonya, Evan and their co-counsel for this outstanding achievement and for their consistent hard work and unwavering dedication to their clients as they fight for justice. View the finalist video from the award ceremony below.
